Children's General Assembly

80 children and youths from around the world..

Every year we are giving 80 children aged 10-17, from all around the world, the chance to participate in Children's General Assembly. By bringing children from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds to the Children's General Assembly, we set the stage for children and youth to develop democratic skills, to speak up and be heard. We enable children and youth to initiate change and to take action as creative world citizens.

The 80 chosen children and youths, will participate in digital co-creation workshops from April-August 2023. The children will discuss, collaborate, create, and consolidate their shared perspectives and solutions to current world issues.

Between September 19 and 21, 2023, the participants will gather in the Capital of Children, Billund, Denmark. Here, children of the world will bring forward their shared perspectives, solutions, and actions for a better world to leaders of the world.

From the children of the world to the leaders of the world

The idea behind the Children's General Assembly is that the summit itself will be held at the same time as the UN General Assembly in New York, and that the children's proposals will thus be handed over to world leaders on the other side of the Atlantic in New York.

Prior to the General Assembly, the children across nationalities, genders, ages and walks of life will meet in groups of eight children. Each group decides for themselves which topic they want to work on. All workshops will be facilitated by professional facilitators from Billund, dedicated to encouraging children to think critically and globally.

The children's manifesto will be presented at their General Assembly and delivered to the heads of state with the question: "What will you do with the children's proposal?"
